Newland Concert Brass first
visited Germany in 1988 during a concert tour of Hochsaurlandkreis
in July of that year. This visit developed links with both the area and a local
band, the Neheim-Hüsten Fanfaren-Korps. A Twinning
Agreement was signed the following year between the two bands.Both bands have since enjoyed several
exchange visits over the years.Newland
Concert Brass last visited Neheim in 2004.Some members of NCB were delighted to be
invited to take part in the Fanfaren-Korps 50th Anniversary celebrations
in 2006 (see archive gallery page)
Newland Concert Brass band
hosted the Neheim-Hüsten Fanfaren-Korps in June
2008.Members enjoyed the hospitality of
NCB who organised various trips for them.They stayed with families and friends of NCB. The Fanfaren-Korps took
part in Bathgate Procession and John Newland Festival.They also played in Torphichen
to mark the beginning of Torphichen Gala week.The Fanfaren-Korps also enjoyed visits to
Stirling and Edinburgh.On the Saturday
evening, both bands enjoyed a buffet and disco in the Fairway Hotel.On Sunday evening, an informal time was
enjoyed by band members at the Royal British Legion where members could relax (and
watch the football!) Presentations were also made between the two bands.
