Paul McKelvie OBE

Paul started playing trombone at the age of 10, and joined the Alva Band in 1974, moving onto the Solo Trombone seat within 6 months. He played continuously with the band until 2007, sharing in the success the band had over this period.  Paul joined Lochgelly Band in 2008, and was part of the band when it was promoted to the Championship Section in 2010, and then when it was placed third in the Scottish Championships in 2011, after which he retired as a player. Paul was appointed as Resident Conductor at Clackmannan District Brass Band in 2011 and led them to victory at the First Section Scottish Championships in 2012.

On his appointment as Musical Director at Newland Concert Brass, Paul said, " I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to join the team at Newland Concert Brass. The band is ambitious, as am I, and has a strong youth structure. I am really looking forward to working with them."
